Now the day has been filled with many twist and turns. It started with Tasha waking me up an ahn earlier then I told her, or so it felt, for I told her when the shadow hit the third bucket by the steps. I needed some sleep having been on patrol all night, and not crawled into bed until the Sky was just starting its battle of wills between Moons and Sun. In all honestly it wasn't much of a conversation to see why she was awakening me as it was me taking her hair and twisting it in my fist to shove her face first into a cushion, while I tried to blink sleep out of my eyes and focus between her motions of trying to suck breath through fur, leather and feathers. When I finally lifted up with a brace of elbow at the small of her back and tones now whimpers as I released her hair and she was taking deep breaths as my weight on her back would give. Before she could speak one clear word I rolled over shoving her head back into the fur cushion as I stretched, just feeling the flame of irritation flare again when the wagon flaps were thrown open once again with Tori coming in...loudly. "Master, you need to come see this, its crazy!" she called out. Now, it caught my interest as much as it saved Tasha from another struggle of breath even longer then the first, might have saved Tori from getting beaten...right now. She would get it later for coming in like that. I walked out wearing my dusted leathers from the night I was to tired to take off, and nothing else. It took an ihn or two for my eyes to adjust to the light as I like my wagon dark when I sleep. I didn't need to see clearly to know what was all over my steps. I smelled it, and it smelled good. There was platters and bowls filled with food on every step. Fresh breads, jarred jams, pickled eggs, honey and something I would figure out later. I had no doubt where it came from, most likely the massive gathering now at Hannah's wagon. I haven't seen anything like this...since...Shaking my head at the thought, but good ole Tori said it out loud. "Last time we had this was after Mistress died." I could only nod and walk down where there was room, taking a platter of bosk steaks with me. Finding a fur by my wagon fire, I told Tasha to gather what could be saved, or eaten before it turns, and what was left, package up so Tori could take it to those who were ill and could use such to not worry about the burdens of feeding their family. Tori was beside me, I was looking at the deep red at her cheeks as I could see she felt bad for what she said, and her eyes pleaded, as she knew better to speak until I had eaten some in peace. Then I allowed her the chance to say she was sorry and continue with giving me the reports of her morning rounds with tea's, herbs, and checking bandages.

I did my rounds then, after I had eaten, bathed and changed. Stocking my satchel I wear across my back, and going to see those who were of concern first and the rest after that. I thanked Hannah's family as again I had to chuckle as single women were thrust before me, blushing and smiling as I was offered food, drink, and a future with each and every one of them. I chuckled saying no to all that was offered, but I would think about it upon my return. Next I would stop to see the woman Silken at her wagons, I saw Ash, one of the first faces I met at the Ubar's fires, I could tell quickly he had no idea why I was there. Women.

Looking her over, I could only keep giving the firm suggestion of Silken resting. She was in quick defiance of such a thing, but I have my faith in Ash, and his word he would see to it. I am not worried. Our talk turned into something interesting. I was given two vulo hens as payment for my care, which in turn around over talk of daughters building chicken coops, happened into talk of an gentle soul of an older daughter at the age of twenty four years being unmated, and was offered up for the startling bride price of....two hens. Now, at first I was thinking of the deal as pretty much one I couldn't pass or any man in that fashion, for if she was beautiful, gentle...there was more to a woman then a mate if things don't work out. Of course I wouldn't voice out that logic to her family. So before I left, Silken seemed to be having a few faint headed moments. I was worried, and suggested she go lay down. She shows some of the common signs of being with child though they claim it isn't so. It makes me a bit more worried at the damage the hit to her head might have done. I will be sure to check on her later.

So armed with the thought of a new mate I headed to the fires. I figured I should celebrate. The mood was not of festivities when I arrived. It seems the couple of outer wagon folks I met earlier were mourning over the death of the ill Father. I asked if she had a Guardian, a woman who took care of her brother, and seemed lost when she said no, I offered. It was a good will offering, as I hoped any man would do, and we were both of the outer wagons, and the young Warrior she was with I was no fool to see they were smitten with each other, that it seemed logical to be a stand in as she was not mated as of yet. I have to say I was beyond shocked when the Warrior seemed to get very emotional over my offer. I found it unfavorable and almost grossly disappointed. The reaction is that of a unscarred boy wanting to run off before it was time to earn something he wasn't ready for. Upon the arrival of Ash I had made it clear I was done with the conversation. This seemed more private then public and we were at the Ubar's open fires, when first wagon people started to arrive, it made sense to cease this. The young woman's words of not wanting this a public affair seemed to be in unison of my own concerns. It seemed the young Warrior didn't feel the same and our words both were unheeded. Again, a disappointment, but I did make it clear I was done with the conversation. I am too old to deal with childish shit. As I spoke with Ash, and took the hens back with a second disappointment of the evening, I did see the young woman sooth over the fiery young Warrior with cooing words and drinks. Perhaps it was envy. A woman willing to over look any flaw, to bring peace to a heart on fire. That is a rare woman to accept and feed into a man's persona without trying to change or alter it in any form. That is what I want. My first mate was like that. I felt a double impact of sorrow hit, but deep inside as I worked out a deal of releasing my hold to the mate, for taking the hens back and a rooster added to it.

Deal done, I was ready to leave. I had lost my mate I had for only an ehn. The lost of a Father made me think of my own though I think death is a good thing, its the Sky's decision that we are ready for the next level of living, that of pure soul no need for the blood and temptations of flesh if it be pleasure or pain. It made me think of my mate, gone so long ago, it made me think of many things. I was walking away and the young Warrior stopped me, saying he had come across goods worthy of a trade. I gave one of my hen's for the pouch. They both talked of cooking it instantly. Youth, I had to miss it. I saw eggs and future growth of my stock of vulo, they saw dinner.

I wanted a bit of peace and nature. I headed towards the stream.
